Window Rattle/Sqeak....

Hi All,

Bought another S4 last weekend (Silver B7 Avant 23k miles 05 plate), bizarre after my last experience but goes better than a Focus....

Still, I carefully checked the car during the test drive for this annoying window rattle and was not sure if I believed my ears (not present), now I've got the car its loud and clear as daylight. Can anyone provide any suggestions as to improve or fix this irritation.

I have tried to get the dealer(s) to fix this type of problem in the past with a 100% failure rate so any suggestions would be most welcome.

This car does not have the dodgy clutch  , the baulking gearbox  , dodgy paint  but has the window rattle :x so this is an improvement.

Thanks

Pete

Hi mate

When does the rattling happen, fully up, half way or fully down?

Hi Dunc,

The problem is present with the window fully up. Lowering it slightly does seem to improve matters.

Thanks

Hi Pete

Did THIS solution I suggested last time not help at all?

Sounds like a lovely car. Any pics?

Hi John,

Yes, I did try that on my old one but with no success, the new one also suffers from wind noise so pulling the frame out slightly may make this worse. Have actually tried this one with no success, maybe not being brutal enough :) ....

One thing I did notice, when the door is closed fully, there is a little bit of seal (at the top of the metal door skin) that appears should be in contact with the B post cover panel. There is quite a gap present, looking further showed that the door may not actually be closed enough due to the striker plate being out of position. When I get some time I will adjust the striker plate and see if this improves matters.
