how to check performance

hi guys
is there anyway to check how your car is performing on the b6 s4 ?
i had a b5 s4 before the b6 and on the b5 you could do a FATS test
( the time it took to get from 4200rpm to 6500rpm in 3rd gear )
that way you could measure the affects of any mods by how it was affecting perfomance....

cheers

i'm not sure why its running so well at the minute, i posted recently about this : http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=65392
i thought it was the petrol i am using but someone else recons it could be the drop in temperature.
it can't be that otherwise yours would be running as quick as mine ?? unless you live somewhere really hot ?
were you alone in the car ? what petrol are you using ?

I live in Scotland and the temp was around 4c when I did the test. I was using Tesco 99 ron also. Hope the cars running as it should. Can you do a 30-70 in 3rd test and let me know what you get.

Thanks

Did a few more runs last night;

0-60 - 5.1 secs
3000-7000 - 5.0 - (2nd)
30-70 - 4.9 secs (in 3rd)

How does this compare to everyone else?

ive done the 3k to 7k in second several times now and i'm still getting 3.76s which is much quicker than yours, however the 30 to 70 in 3rd comes out the same
i do recon that when i said the performance was improved recently on my car that it was most noticable higher up the rev range.
i have done a 5k to 7k in 3rd this morning and i'm getting a time of 4.1s, this is where i feel the power is alot better than what it was
and i think if you try one this might show that.
how did you do a 0-60 time ? you would have had to change gear with a stop watch in your hand !
bling bling, when timing these runs i realise that it is not the most accurate way to do it, so what i do is 3 runs and take an average. i think its an ok comparison especially when the times differ from me to kaisersolsay by 1.25s in one case, that is a difference of 25%, its gotta equate to something more than the accuracy of the stop watch do you not think ?

I appreciate that the manner in which the times are logged is very crude. A difference of 1.25s when there are two different people with different reaction times, different equipment, road gradients etc is IMO quite plausible.

I am not questioning what you are both trying to achieve just suggesting that the differences you see are acceptable considering the aforementioned and possible more variables.

Can you not do a fats time (using vag-com) with the b6 s4?
