Hello,

A little trick to improve the low-rev response on S4v8:
http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=64387

It is a link from the RS4 forum but unless you applied the latest codes or changes your exhaust, you can benefit from the trick.

Have fun !

Will this work on my B6 S4 or is it for RS4's only?

It will definitely make the zorts louder, S4 and RS4 both have valves in the back boxes, and may have some impact on performance.

I had a look under my rear boxes and couldnt see the valves?? Am I being a spaz? Does the B6 S4 definately have the valves?

Found this diagram on the Milltek website.....the valves are on the top side of the rear boxes.

I have also a B6S4 so I can tell you that you have them for sure

Yeah didnt look hard enough! Do you notice a big difference in sound and performance?

I don't think that the tiptronic's have the valves

The sound, I don't remember well as I changed soon after my exhausts by Supersprint (which for sure, do not have them).
When I discussed with my Audi mechanic, he mentioned that in the lastest software (that I had to load anyway) they used to let them open all the time now.
The main change is related to get rid of some jerks that may be experienced around 2000rpm and it runs smoother and fuller in mid revs.
Don't expect to have all of a sudden an RS4 but it is a interesting change nad the good thing: fully reversible

Hi guys,

I can confirm that my B6 S4 DOES NOT have the exhaust valves discussed.

I took the rear boxes off their rubber hangers and pulled them down, but there were no valves to be seen???!!

She only has 23k on the clock so I wouldnt have thought that the exhausts have been replaced with cheaper replacements??

Anyone got any thoughts?

The only thing it can be is non oem exhuasts. Recently had a catback fitted and mine definitely had the valves.

Nothing else than your exhausts are may be replacement.
What you could try is to look around the bumpers if you can find the pipes that are supposed to be connected to them.

Kaisersolsay is your car a tip or manual?

Hi,

Its a manual. Replacement exhausts? Relly?? It has 23k on the clock?!! Are the exhausts likely to go that quickly? Getting worried the car has been clocked now. Bought her from Stockport Audi.....noticed on the vehicle reg docs that she has had 5 previous owners. Is there any way to check if shes been clocked??

The only thing you can do is carry out a mileage check. Are your back boxes cylindrical of box shaped as perthe pic above? If cylindrica then you may well have aftermarket back boxes.
