Just got an email from PES tuning indicating they are in the final stages of creating a supercharger for the 4.2L V8. I think this is going to be primarily for the A8. I asked them about the S4 and they stated they didn't think there was much interest. MTM's supercharger is waaaaay too expensive for me and PES will be using a lysholm type design (not a roots) with the goal of under $7000 US. If enough people email them interested in an S4 application they may modify the design for the B6-B7 S4. Soooo, anyone who's interested please email 'em!

By the way, anyone seen the Motodyne "beltless supercharger"? Think I'd have to see it to believe it.

Email sent. I will also put this on the Tyresmoke forum. I read that the APR S/C has been put on hold, again. Should have been out last year then that was revised to this summer and now by all accounts it is on hold.

I am suprised that there is not enough interest. Reading the many posts on the Audiworld forum you would have thought they would sell like hot cakes.

beltless is a brilliant idea the most unattractive thing about a supercharger is the work the belt has to do they've solved it with hydraulics, excellent

I wonder if it will fit the RS4? The MTM kit is expensive full stop.

My understanding is that the APR is a roots design, whereas PES will be a lysholm (much more efficient). I called APR and, sure enough, it's on hold. No definite due date. The Motodyne beltless sounds really attractive but can't say I've ever seen or read of one in use. The company seems very thin on details and I'd be reluctant to be the first . . . .

I did think about a supercharger at one stage and a Lysholm one at that, however your are still talking about a minimum of £5k's worth of work and the one thing it does suffer from unless you have constant flowing open roads is heat soak in and around town when there is minimal air flow in stop start suburban traffic.

You would indeed have a unique car, but add the suspension, exhaust / manifold and brake upgrades you would need to take advantage of the extra power, you may as well buy an RS4?

it would not suffer from heat soak like a turbo charged car, it will be more like a NA car there is not the heat exchange at the turbo that would get into your inlet, just normal exhaust heat like you have on your car at present in traffic. thats one of the few advantages of superchargers along with instant boost

Agreed it is not like a turbo charger, but becasue of the confined space and the fact it sits in / above the V groove the supercharger is very close to the block with not much clearance between it and the bonnet, so although not as bad as a turbo unit, it does have its power sapped in suburbia.

IIRC it is something Lysholm have identified with their superchargers, hence why the MTM supercharged RS4 has a carbonfibre bulge to allow ait to circulate around and above the unit.

Guys, do a google search on Murderdyne a.k.a. Motodyne, that company is the worst ripoff ever.

I would wait for the APR one to be finished off.

You can be sure it will be a good bit of kit and around the £5000 I have been advised.

Will they ever finish one off? I have tried to contact them on many occasions without success. It has been put back two or three times now.

Just checked with the APR importer this morning, looks as if they are shelving the `charger project.

I know they are develping a twin turbo for the R8 and they are probably developing a similar kit for the B7 RS4.

Guys, most of the heat comes from compressing the air not from heat exchange with the turbocharger itself.
