my new S4 avant....

Post by approved » Wed Mar 14, 2007 9:51 pm

cheers to gIzze, the cars a beaut!

2005 54 plate brilliant red with black leather.

Now, i need to sort a few things.

it has rns-e nav fitted ( retro by guy) all coded in properly, and working a treat, however, i want some things fitted and need a man to do it all in one foul swoop.

1/ parking sensors
2/ cd changer and/or ipod link up provided it works via the nav.
3/ telephone/bluetooth to link to nav unit.

i want the lot to factory standard and am prepared to pay..
but not necessarily main dealer prices..just good hard earned cash!

oh and they need to be able to come ooop north!!!

pm's or pointers please!!!!

err. i've got rid!! dont get me wrong, the example was perfect. never painted, millteks, condition A1, but as for the type of car? too small *( four adults and a baby seat? like being on the tube in rush hour), crap handling ( for a performance car, worst understeer in the world ever), poinless gearbox ( the manual) no memory seats ( optional? thats a disgrace) etc.

got my money back though in swap for something else.

trouble is, i love audi's..my rs6 was ace..but the s4 was utterly utterly pointless in the guise i bought and i would strongly recommend that people do not buy one without considering other options.

Its a shame you got rid so quickly, but surely the complaints you had could have been avoided with a test drive?

with all due respect to everone it wasnt good at anything....at all.

i got rid of an X5 to get it, and thought i could marry the needs of space with that of a performance vehicle. So at weekends i could enjoy the experience also....had an rs6 avant which was great but i think they are getting on a bit and are horrendous to run from a maintentance point of view, so that put me off having another.

so its gone, and its place is take by a new ML320 cdi, as a family wagen is needed. i will have to get my kicks in the 997, and bland it up at the weekends.

unfortunately its a good bluffer. you need to live with it for a bit to suss out if its for you..and it clearly wasnt for us.

so nobody thinks i dont appreciate good cars, i do, which is why i moved as quick as i did. no point hanging about. if your not happy, do something about it!!

You don't even need a test drive to spot it's a manual, without memory seats and not big enough for 5 people...

didnt realise all the ratios would be so close together...just like i didnt realise it understeer'd like a 1984 vauxall astra..out of politeness to the previous owner i took it for granted it would drive well under load and i didnt really want to rag it with him in it!

anyway, glas your all dead happy with yours...the ML is lovely.

The understeer like a 84 astra could have easily been rectified by a 50 quid, fitted, mod. A RS4 rear anti roll bar. Dials out understeer and adds a bit of over at the same time. Seems strange to complain about understeer etc of the S4 then going out and buying a ML

rs4 rear anti roll bar fitted by the previous owner. dread to think what it drove like before.

ml has more room.

997 turbo drives real nice though.

i was making a point, if you dont like it say so, save your sarcasm for your mrs.

the car was cack.
