Have many people on here had their V8's remaped?

I've seen that for about £3K you can get full Milltek and an AMD map. Any other options on the map?

I've seen that MRC list a map for the 4.2 V8. Anyone able to say if it's any good?

I have the Revo software on my S4 (B6). Really happy with it too.
Slightly higher rev limmiter, which is very usefull for the top speed runs
My car is totally standard and even with the higher rev limmiter is pulls the loimmiter in 6th
Nice crisp power delivery, i've had the throttle responce tweeked slightly.

I had mine re-flashed @ Quattronic, might be alittle to far for you but corey's service is exellent - come's highly recomended

I'd compared afew of the other re-flash options, and value for money and performance and that fact i have corey on my door step swung it to the revo software.

As an update, i've just had my car rolling roaded and it made 261.8 bhp @ the wheels - which working it out @ the fly is 349.9 bhp .
Other than the re-map the car is totally std

I'm amazed at the difference ! (where does the missing 90 bhp go ?). I never thought about it before but it sort of implies that 90 bhp is used within the transmission chain, driving bearings and gear friction and generating heat. Seems a lot - 90 bhp is enough to drive a small car or m/bike

Do you know how they calculate/ estimate the 349.9 from the measured 261.8 ?

I spoke to 3 different Audi tuners, teo said 25% tranny losses the other said said 24%. I went with the 24%.
To work it out propperly you have to calculate it backward :

i.e. divide by .76 for the 24%
divide by .75 for the 25%

Ohh dear, after an afternoon of testing the Revo remap is causing det - we've ruled out the car having andy faults, so my tuner is going back to Revo with the map and they will be sorting it (** crosses fingers)

So for the time being i'm back to the stock map with all the limmiters and speed restrictions back

I have the MRC remap for now 6 months without any problem.

Don't expect a dramatic change (it is still NA engine) but a quicker throttle response, better mid-rev torque and a bit more power at top rev (mine is optimised for 98 ).

If it is what you are looking for, I would recommend it.

sadly no, not yet - should be in on tuesday then we'll see - untill then it's std

I'd be very interested to see your graphs as in my experience to takes quite an increase in bhp to achieve a "massiv diffrence"

Sorry , i didn't make myself clear - driving on the road, personally i couldn't give a rats 'ass about rolling road bhp thats for 'pub talk'.

I thought this would have been clear as on a rolling road you don't use the first couple of gears - 3rd or 4th (depending which rolling road) and i compared my s4 to my old e46 m3.

Never got (even stock) any problem in first and second. Moreover I am not talking about Revo but MRC...

To be honest, I feel better to stay away from the last limits of the engine as I do expect to keep it for a while

It's not a problem as such, just that in campairson to my M3 E46, the S4 feels lathargic in comaprison.

The Revo map will be far from the 'limits' of the engine, like most/all generic map's, they are designed to run under alot differing conditions - from air flter to exhausts and alike.

When i had the revo map on my car it didn't feel like it was in anyway stressing the engine, more that it was enhancing the drive in the first few gears. All in my opinion

The MRC map would be interesting to try in comparison

APR have extended their range of maps to include the V8.

They do not claim huge gains iro 8/10 hp 10lbft on the 98 super unleaded map. It claims to raise the rev limit and remove the speed limiter (not found that yet).

I am going to remap my own car today see how it perfoms.
