RS4 starter button

Post by tartan_rob » Thu Dec 14, 2006 1:26 am

Guys I placed an order today to fit the RS4 starter button and cig lighter and associated assembley into my S4. It looks like a straight swap - albeit with some wiring. has anyone done this before? If not I'll post some pics when done.

Hows this work then, put your keys in as normal, then get the passenger to press the button ;)

Been looking for a polite way of phrasing it but haven't managed it :

Why do it?
B8 A4 Avant quattro
Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird
Suzuki GSXR1000 (Track bike)
B6 S4 (AMD Stage 3) - GONE
8N TT (APR/AMD/MTM) - GONE

I cant see the point in doing unless you dont have to use the key, it is your toy though so skys the limit.

I have lost my ciggy lighter and a new one is £46 odd, the complete RS4 starter is only just over £100. I also feel the ciggy lighter is in a strange position and very much of an afterthought. The little cubby hole beside it if useless and my phone doesn't fit in it...personal taste I suppose.

I say go for it Rob, personally I love pressing the button on mine and my boy also loves it.

The wife like so many above think it is a complete waste of time. TBH though I enjoyed lying on my back pulling the car apart and doing the wiring. I even enjoyed ripping out the old lighter and making the start button (in this case, a Honda one) work.

Each to there own, I say go on son.

Heres a picture of mine.

A bit of a pain really but not too hard. The pain was lying on my back with the sill neatly placed half way through my spine. I got instructions with mine as I bought it from fleabay as a kit. I just used the clips to spur into the wires as I did not fancy cutting some of the main ignition wires. The hardest part was getting the actually start button to look good where the old ligther was. I initially wanted it to spin around, like the liughter socket did, alkthough it was to long so I just installed it fixed in place.

Good luck
