Hi there, just joined your site, am about to buy an s4 cab and would appreciate any advice on good insurers. Have 3 cars with More Than but they won't insure anything over group 18! I have read comments re: tiptronic over manual but i think for my use i will go for the tip. Plan to take several trips touring europe. Do i have to use premium unleaded all the time? and is the standard sat nav system any good? What sort of mileage will i get out of a set of tyres. Last question for now how easy is it to convert the xenons to continental setting?

S4 is Group 20 - its costing the same to insure as my 911 Carrera S

I had my A4 1.9 TDi Avant with More Than and with 15 years no claims bonus expected them to honour their "we only insure safe drivers" promise when I got my S4. Did they? - no, the lying so-and-so's. What they actually mean is "we insure low insurance group cars".

I switched to the AA who gave me the best quote I could find, but when they tried to increase the premium by 20% on renewal I switched to Liverpool Victoria. I'm due for renewal in February, so it will be interesting to see who gives me the best quote for my RS4 Avant.

I have my 2 with Zurich on a multi car policy. If you have 3 cars, this may be the way to go depending on how many drivers you have as some Insurers rate the extra cars a lot lower if they cant all be driven at once. You also get perks like agreed value (so no arguements if it get written off or stolen), breakdown cover, legal cover etc. Zurich and Chubb even offer open driving on everything bar stuff like Enzos and Zondas if you want it.

I run my own brokers so if you want, I can have look at this for you.

I took delivery of my B7 S4 Avant last week and have insured it with Swiftcover Insurance. Great online service and really low premium... 32 yrs old, 25k p.a. (10K business). 3 penalty points and 5yrs NCD protected and the wife as a named driver = £600 per annum.
