Can anyone tell me if the B7 S4 has the same quattro 60/40 split as the new RS4?

No one seems to know. I think the answer is no.

Recent Audi communication suggests that the 60:40 is available on new models starting with the RS4 but I'm sure I heard that the older systems had the ability to vary the split up to 60:40 as necessary?

If I remember correctly proper Quattro (ie not A3 or TT) is 50:50 but can go 75:25 either way as the car decides. The point is that the RS4 is 40:60 in its default mode. The upcoming Q7, S8 and S6 all are like this but I believe no other A4, A6 or A8 are.

The MANUAL B7 S4 is, I believe, 40:60 split, the auto is not - the manual has Torsen C(r) whereas the auto does not.

I have just ordered a B7 S4 Avant so am hoping that this info. is correct!! Just to be sure, I have requested from Audi UK Press Office full technical details of the B7 S4 as the Audi website/brochure is less than useful of technical details.

I remember reading an article (cant remember where now

) saying that the new RS4 is expected to have the same 60:40 split as the old S4... at the time the B7 S4 had not been released (I dont think) and so I can only assume they mean the B6... would be nice if it did.

From US Audi press release:
"New for 2006 is the introduction of the latest generation Torsen drivetrain on all S4 models equipped with a manual transmission. The new system has an asymmetrical torque split of 40/60 front/rear under normal driving conditions. This helps the S4 exhibit a more dynamic driving sensation. However, like all quattro-equipped cars, engine power can still be sent to the wheels with the most traction. Tiptronic-equipped S4 models retain a 50/50 torque split."
I sent a query to a journalist friend who I asked to approach Audi for me. He forwarded the e-mail to his mate - Jeremy Clarkson. JC should be able to get Audi UK to tell us whether the B7 S4 has 40:60 torque split!!

...he's interested.
Is there not someone from Audi UK on here who can state exactly what the answer is? (plus when can I have FSI in an S4 please?)
