Brake warning light

Anyone had their brake warning light, accompanied by the warning beeps, come on on the DIS under heavy cornering? The pads are fine, and it doesn't come on under excessive braking. Just had the car serviced at Audi & they couldn't find any faults, but was unable to take the car out with a technician to try & recreate the fault (it's too busy near the dealers to start throwing the car about during working hours).

No but very occasionally on start up. Again no problem found and it goes after a few secs.

Mmmm. Seems like the sensors may have a life of their own then. I've been told the sensors are actually in the pads themselves, any ideas what might be causing them to show a fault on the DIS?

Finally got to the bottom of this - brake fluid level. Worked that out all by myself, good eh? Well, bloody better than Audi who couldn't diagnose it

Had the same problem with my S4 Avant, a few weeks after taking ownership. It started off as a rare annoyance, then deteriorated into an event that happened under even the most gentle cornering - I even isolated it to happening on right hand turns only!
Audi had checked all the fluid levels OK and looked at the brakes - OK again, so asked me to book it in for a proper look.
Turned out there was a loose connection in the wiring loom behind the dash - no sensor or brake problem at all. Tightened up the wire and not had a peep since.

Happened to me in really cold weather. It's just the brake fluid needs a top-up.

Yeah I had this too at a track day last week. Brake fluid was above minimum but still needed a top up anyway.

Yeah, I've had it under heavy cornering. I'm also pretty certain my pads are stripped anyway, so put it down to that - but I'll give the fluid a check too... what should I be topping up with?

It says on the brake fluid cap DOT4 so I guess that the standard fill.
