Anyone had a run against a Scooby?

First time out on a decent run in the dry yesterday and sod's law I had the wife and kids in the car so no real fun to be had.

Even worse was the Scooby driver pulled up along side me and obviously wanted a blast, but had to decline.

Anyone had a run in with them on a windy dual carriageway? Wondering what the outcome was? :)

No, but I had a run in with a modded Elise which later turned out to belong to a fellow forum member (not this one)...

(Toasted him at 3/4 throttle...)

Funny you should ask, an older one came up alongside me on the M6 on Saturday night, had an exhaust the size of a chimney, but me having my sensible hat on, coupled with the fact there were quite a few cars on the road, meant I just looked over and laughed, a gesture which our cars allow us to do quite successfully :smile_smoking:

Had a go with an Elise too the other week, coming off the A404 onto the M4 slip, mullered him :bigwave: When he eventually caught me up, as he hadn't had the chance to really see my tail, he slowed as he came past to check out what had just left him looking like a melon  Left him to carry on for a few secs, then flew past him just to rub it in

The only Scoobies I've had a go with were in my old B5. The best one was a new, crimson red one in Bristol, spiky haired love-myself tart with blonde bird next to him, and out-accelerated him in every gear. Absolutely priceless, especially as my brother was leaning out the window laughing at him :D

That one must have been standard, but they can be tuned to silly levels, so be prepared!

LOL

You just described me and the wife :D

Thanks for the info.
Friend of mine just bought a Scooby it seems and is planning to chip it, so I'll have to see if I can find him one of these days and see who comes out on top

I've got a well run in B6 S4 Avant and a mark III Impreza WRX SL wagon fitted with the Prodrive Performance Pack, Prodrive springs and Prodrive 18" wheels wearing P-Zero Rosso's. The S4 destroys it in every situation but then again we are talking £41k vs £26k! Anyone offer me £19k for the Scooby and its their's.

Mine is at the moment... contemplating AMD stage 1 when my insurance pays out.

Anyone have any idea on the diff in 0-60 afterwards on the Avant please? Standard I believe is 5.6 secs?

Autocar had the S4 Avant to 60 in 5.2. I'm guessing the stage 1 wouldn't make much difference to that, but would certainly sharpen up through-the-gear times. I keep pestering Scotty for some figures on his stage 3, I think he's too busy looking for rubber mats!

I can't believe I've never got round to even test driving a Scooby, such a lot of car for the dosh, and I remember hearing old Clarkson saying that they've got to be driven to be appreciated, the handling is by all accounts simply sublime. Just a shame they're so...."HELLO, I'M HERE!!!"...and the interior is disappointing for a 20 grand motor.

hehehe :<beep>_you:

Mine's currently not stage 3!

In another thread you'll see I had it de-chipped so I could have the throttle s/w upgraded (very worth while). Since then I haven't had a chance to get back to AMD.

I'm now booked in for next Wednesday. Once it's back to full stage 3, I'm still not sure how I'm meant to get 0-60 times? :?

Tell you what, I'll meet you on the M11 @ 5pm one evening, we'll stop the traffic, I'll stand in the middle lane with a stopwatch, you flash me when you get to 60 :rocker:

ah but the speed of light plus your reactions might mean the time is 5+ secs instead of 4+secs!

If 4+ secs is reality, might as well book myself in at AMD straight away

I'm not sure. I heard a UK mag got a 5.2 from standard. I also have seen a US mag get a 4.99 from a standard car. Therefore an extra 60ish bhp and a strong increase in torque has got to take it close.

Take off an additional 0.1 of a second for Nogaro blue - its the quickest colour.
