B6 S4 prices are all way over at the mo - look at trade prices where an 03 is worth c£24k.

Not a huge amount of additional spec there... Just the leather, dipping mirror, autochanger and BOSE. The "real" cost of that car brand new would have been (correct me if I'm wrong) just over £40k - but as the model is well and truly "run out" now, and the B7 has replaced it, it does seem very expensive. I picked up a similar car for similar money back in October, but it was completely unregistered and totally brand new.

There should be a bargain to be had, here.

New B7 S4 Avants will be available in the very near future.
Gut feeling is its far to expensive.

Same here, which is one reason for plumping for the B6 while I could still get a new one in Nogaro!

The dealer should be taking serious offers on the car, as they'll want to replace it with a new B7 demonstrator shortly :)

Have you tried the Audi used car locator?

www.audi.co.uk

Lets you see the available Audi stock nation wide......compare prices/specs etc.

If you like the car.....chance your arm with a low offer......they can only say no,given that sales are depressed they might bite your hand off

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Not holding out much hope of the new RS4 avant looking any better than the awful saloon.......time will tell.

my partner was weary of this, as you hear about the horror stories of abused demonstators,it doesnt say if it is a demonstrator in the description, the mileage at 900 miles would lead me to believe it is.
how much more discount do you think i should get for an ex demonstrator?
would anyone advise against buying an ex demonstrator? any horror stories?

thanks

Mate, I'd never buy an ex-demo. You can imagine it can't you, Friday evening at the dealers, one salesman to the other: "You want the S4 this weekend?", "Yeah, why not", then proceeds to thrash the car from cold all wekend. No thanks...

Some people advocate thrashing new cars as it "makes them quicker" and although it shortens the life, how many of us will keep the car that long.

I think I've replied to Rachael on another forum (tyresmoke). I don't think the B7 will impact the B6 prices much at the moment but in about 12 months this will probably have a bigger impact. I'd be surprised if the dealer goes lower than £36k.

£37k is way too much and the dealer would take alot less than £36k IMHO....

At £35k budget you should be looking at cars advertised at £38-40k, and if it's a B6 use that in your negotiations to get the price to where you want it to be....

Or wait for a B7 and get a deal on that instead

That's actually what I'd do. If you're buying now then it's the sensible depreciation better decision.
