Hi,

Friend of mine has a B5 2.7 twin turbo S4, I am wondering how much quicker (if any) is the B6 S4? Real life generally more important than figures.

Cheers,

Rob.

I have no personal experience but form what i've read on other forums it's quite a lot. It doesn't feel it in the B6 due to the smoothness of the B6 but back to back with a B5 you pull away. Check out audiworld.com for lots on inter B5/B6 banter.

It's not entirely fair to put a modified car against another one, but a stage 1 B5 will stay with a B6 around a track. I think the high torque output of the B5 helps offest the lack of outright BHP.

Just my own experience.

I didn't say anything about modified cars. I simply repeated what I've heard about standard cars on another forum.

Having just swapped from a B5 (which I owned for 140k miles & 3 years) to a B6, I'd say for "town" driving (ie instances when one can't open the throttle fully) the B5 is noticeably quicker, and, dare I say it, easier to derive pleasure from, due to that car's best characteristic: the delivery of huge torque at only 2 - 2.5k rpm and the punch of the turbos at such a low rev range. However, push the B6 all the way to the red line, which the car seems more than eager to allow the driver to do, and it's definitely faster, indeed deceptively so, as Scotty mentioned.

I'd love to see a video of the 2 back to back in a drag race...anyone?

I was hoping to get a test drive in my new car while still keeping hold of my older B5, and thus do a thorough performance comparison; unfortunately the distance to the dealer meant this was impossible
