Latest breakdown on my S4 V8 lemon

Post by installer69 » Wed Jan 14, 2004 2:14 pm

There I was, 100 miles away about to go to a meeting when I notice a groaning/grinding noise from the front end at low speed/nearly full lock turns.

After the meeting I asked one of the transport guys to come have a listen (I'm becoming a hypo'car'ndriac-everytime I hear a noise I think the worst) When he sugested lifting the bonnet (all who've read previous installments will know that even this is a hit and miss affair!) to see if the engine mounts are loose I knew it was time to call the dealer.

They said don't drive it, call Audi rescue. At this point I had 4 hours 'till the deadline for personally submitting a tender for work which I had planned for my way home.

They assured me they'd be there in 2 hours so I sat with my customers and drank their coffee.....for over 5 hours!

Got to the dealers and they gave me a lovely diesel A3 to get home in. Just the part to go to important meetings with potential new clients.

At least they hung on for me.

So, they've got it now. And they can keep it. I'll let you all know what happens next.

Unbelievable

I had one of these on order but cancelled it when my RS6 became available- sort of glad I did now.
I'll be VERY interested to see how Audi Dealer and Customer Care handle this one.
I don't think it would hurt someone senior at Audi to know that this matter is now in the Public Domain- but I would exercise caution in the manner in which they are informed of the fact.
Good Luck

After the DP at the garage had a meeting with the audi regional on Friday they have asked for a copy of my sales invoice (they've lost the original!!!!)and inferred that I may get my wish.

If they don't hurry my wish will be for a car from a different manufacturer!

Now, if only saab did a v8........

Sounds like they are edging towards a settlement to me.

Bet they will do as much as possible to keep you in the Audi brand though...how about a nice "cheap" RS6 maybe?

Good luck anyway

p.s. Saab V8...don't be silly

Good luck to you, really hope they fix this keeping in mind that
- your typical happy customer will tell 3 people
- your typical unhappy customer will tell 6-10 people
- your typical rs246.com user will tell (800??) people

So, assuming you do get it sorted, we are all looking forward to happy news here on the forum too, after having lived through the nightmares with you.
