403hp V8 with more to come

Post by TimJMS » Mon Jul 21, 2003 9:01 pm

Could this be the stop gap some of us need while we wait for Audi to get their fingers out?

From MILLTEK
Audi S4 4.2V8
Milltek gives the New S4 4.2V8 added muscle. Milltek has developed a performance exhaust for the New S4 that put together with an AmD remap (www.amdtechnik.com) gives the car an astounding 403 bhp.

The free flowing Milltek system is sound optimized , with an aggressive note throughout the rev range that reminds you that you have a V8 up front, whilst keeping the exhaust note outside the cabin and not in it! Milltek are now working on a further increase in power by designing a Hi-Flow sports catalyst installation.

Listers of Stratford (www.listers-stratford.audi.co.uk) have worked with both companies on this package and have a fully kitted demonstrator.

Someone going to do the honours and grab a test drive? Must say that the only thing IMO the S4 lacked was power. Now its got some. Should kick the RS4's butt

Any one going to book the test drive, or shall we all line up now and give it a kicking?

Edited to say we overlapped Bushy!

Me thinks AmDs RR is not the most accurate on the planet
It would be interesting to get it on the G-Force RR and see what the real figures would be.
One thing in AmDs favour though the have one of the smoothest power curves around, and even the guy at G-Force said that they map in the correct way.

Bushy, your boost has been increased! Please tell me how to increase boost on a naturally aspirated engine.

Easy to get extra from Turbos though..

They currently have 2 S4 avant demo cars with the performance kit quoted. £45k each for both though...

Sounds quite a gain for a re-map and exhaust though. Anyone know what the torque improvements (which it's lacking in IMO) are?

Me thinks AmDs RR is not the most accurate on the planet

However it has been proved accurate for many owners here...

Nevertheless I too find this report very hard to accept. If you look at Miltek's statement, it says they are working on free-flow cats. Does this mean that the system they used still has restricted cats? If so I cannot believe this figure was achieved through 'normal' methods.

The figures quoted by tuners are usually 'ideal' anyway, and you rarely get them when your own car is tuned. As we all know, the difference in performance between any two engines can be significant, and this is even more true for NA engines vs turbocharged (because the latter is more carefully controlled by the ECU).

As for Bushy's comment, what was wrong with it?

It is an ancient secret only known to AMD The only way to get that kind of increase in power would be to increase the engine diplacement. Unfortunately the motoring world is full of exagerations a bit like the fishing one "i caught a 100 pound fish....well mine was 300 pounds / **** tuning gives 42hp gain.....so, ******* tuning gives 76 with the same stuff".....too much bull is wasted when talking about horsepower.
Cheers,
Cris

Of course, it would be possible if Audi have made a piss poor job of their own mapping !

Apparently the standard S4 exhaust is very restrictive and Audi have tuned the S4 to pass emission standards (obviously)....

The guy at AmD I spoke to today reckons they got 415 bhp...
