2004 S4 - Oil of choice

Post by V6STR » Sat Apr 14, 2018 4:18 pm

Just seeking some advice on current ‘oil of choice’ for 2004 S4.
Having purchased the car approx 9 months ago, it’s now ready to come out of hibernation for spring clean and service. The car was owned for around 10 years by a mate, forum member and serial detailer, DTMS4. He always advised on Fuchs Titan Pro, before purchasing I thought it worth asking the question.
The car has done around 65,000 miles, probably 1500 miles since I took ownership.

Cheers in advance folks.

Spring clean almost there.
An old car to most on the forum no doubt ...... and I appreciate missing the ‘R’.

As previous post, any advice on oil of choice for 64,280 mile S4 would be appreciated as service looming.

Cheers again.

Yeah, it's pretty quiet around here.

The best place for non-regional advice is Audizine. UK-based advice is a little sparse on this and other sites so you often have to wait for a response.

I've always used Fuchs Titan Pro too after advice from Opie Oils. Surprisingly the owner of my local garage told me the other day that another owner tried it and it didn't work for them, giving them chain rattle or something. I don't know the details though. Chain rattle on first start after changing oil is expected so maybe it was just that. It certainly decreased rattle for me when I switched to it.

Cheers, I’ll head over to Audizine.
Think this site is predominantly RS focussed, not that I’m saying there’s anything wrong with that.
Certainly the place to come when looking for an RS4, I had no luck earlier tracking down an Imola Avant with low miles so chose to buy 1 or 2 toys instead.
I’ll drop in occasionally but thanks for the heads up on the Fuchs, much appreciated.

Cheers.

Your S4 looks great. I’m quite fond of the B6 and in S4 guise think it looks much better than the S4 which I think go a little softer look wise.

Can’t really help with the oil as can’t quite remember what was used in mine, but have a feeling it would have been quantum as per what Audi and MRac used at the time. I’ve used the Fuchs stuff and Millers and both seem to be good oils. As it’s always had Fuchs when your mate owned it, and as it’s such a good oil I’d see no reason to change it.

What other toys did you get then? Rule 1.

Fuchs the way ahead then, decided.
Cheers for your input, much appreciated.
Went old school bought a Kadett D and an Impreza Type R.
Kadett is off for paint and in queue behind my son’s Mk2 Mexico.
Type R is sitting awaiting tlc, no pics at mo other than from guy I bought it from.
Variety allegedly the spice of life......

Cheers.
