Hi all
I have search through the forum, but have been unable to find the fault me car seems to have.
When driving normally the steering works fine, so for everyday driving no issues. However if I decide to give the car a little hard run on the twisty back roads, the steering really stiffens up, to almost no assistance when back to normal driving. Once the car has cooled down, or the next day the steering is back to normal.
Has anyone else come across this problem with their car and if so what expensive item did it end up being at fault?
Steering Stiffness Issue
Re: Steering Stiffness Issue
Sounds like a power steering issue to me, although I will readily admit I am no expert in cars and how they work. Might be worth looking in to.
Hope you get this fixed either way.

Re: Steering Stiffness Issue
They have variable PAS so they're easy to manoeuvre at low speed but stable at high speed. It sounds like this isn't what you're describing though if the steering doesn't get lighter when you slow down.
Have you checked for faults with VCDS?
If that's the only symptom it sounds like a power steering issue - pressure maybe. If there are other symptoms related to speed it could be a bad speed signal from the ABS ECU.
