Tyre replacement advice
Tyre replacement advice
Do all 4 tyres need to be replaced at once on the S4 B6? Or is there a tolerance, obviously with the differential in mind?

Re: Tyre replacement advice
Mine didn't handle well when I bought it with different spec and tread depth Dunlops front and rear. A set of Goodyear Eagle Asymmetrics completely transformed the way it handled. Cannot recommend enough.

Re: Tyre replacement advice
I have put a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's on my wife's A3 TDI Sport 10k miles ago and agree that they are fantastic tyres. When I bought the S4 it had Continental sport contact 5's all round which had varying tread depths so I have now put Michelin PS2's on the front and moved the 2 remaining Conti's with about 5mm tread to the rears. Couldn't justify disregarding them with such good tread and it handles beautifully as it is now.
However my main concern was the maintenance of the differential system. As with the Vw Synchro 4 wheel drive set up the TORSEN diff wan very sensitive to the varying overall wheel diameters and wondered whether the Audi Quattro was similarly prone to failure if this was the case.

Re: Tyre replacement advice
How do you rate the Conti 5s? They are getting good reviews. They are available in some smaller sizes that the Goodyears are not, I wonder if they would be a good choice on lesser cars

Re: Tyre replacement advice
Although the Continentals were nearing the end of their life I couldn't fault them but did produce a little more road noises ham the new Ps2's. Nice looking tyre too. Rated A for wet grip, C for fuel efficiency and 72db, Michelins have A for wet grip, E for fuel efficiency and 70db. Nicer to hear the engine rather than the texture of the Tarmac!
