Hello all.
My S4 didn't come with parking sensors and the wife would prefer i got them installed rather than scraping my beautiful beast( ooer missus).
OEM ones are readily available and decently priced, but afaik they don't marry up with the RNS-E in the way they did on my B8 A4 and the MMI, therefore not offering a pictorial view of where you are close to an object etc.
Is there a way to do this on the RNS-E at all? Are Aftermarket parking sensors worth looking at or do they offer better functionality?
B7 S4 - Parking sensor - OEM or aftermarket?
Re: B7 S4 - Parking sensor - OEM or aftermarket?
The B7 sensors are not plumbed into the RNS-E so no visual aid. Even if you upgraded to the newer RNS-E (2010+) you still won't get it cos the way the car is wired (even though the A3s with the 2010+ have it).

And no way of doing this I suppose, as a mod or something/ Aftermarket or otherwise?MikeFish wrote:The B7 sensors are not plumbed into the RNS-E so no visual aid. Thanks

I don't think it is possible short of rewiring the car with say a loom from an RS3 but I imagine you'd need the ECUs as well, I'm pretty sure it is far more effort than worthwhile if at all possible.

Thanks.
I see you have a 156 GTA - I used to have a 156 JTD (Not quite the same thing, haha) always loved the GTA but never drove it - how does it compare to an S4 do you think?
Re: B7 S4 - Parking sensor - OEM or aftermarket?
Never had an S4 so can't really say. I've sold it a couple of months ago after 8 years of onwership. I was supposed to part ex it when I got the RS4 but ended up keeping for another 3 years. Lovely looking car and drove nicely but so many problems with it. Nothing major but I just couldn't get it perfect, you'd fix one thing then something else would go, then you fix that then something you fixed a year ago would break again! I changed the rad on it (genuine parts) then 13 months later had to do it again. Airbag light would come on ramdomly despite being fixed mymain dealer countless times. Same for traction control switching itself off. It used to eat wisbones (london driving with lots of speed humps).
