How annoying!

Post by Batfinnk » Sat Aug 10, 2013 2:43 pm

Been out and fitted new rocker cover gaskets this morning. Put in the new plugs and cabin filter whilst I was at it. During it all discovered my air filter is rotten and dropped one of the half moon seals down the back of the engine! Luckily it landed on the under tray but what a pita having to jack the car up and drop the undertray just for a seal!

But all worth it. At least the oew ones should help reduce my oil consumption a little bit :biggrin3:

Reminds me of helping a mate change the headlight bulb on his non-xenon 53 plate B6 1.9 TDI. He'd spent ages trying and not managed it, I managed it after about another half hour of fiddling, only for him to them drop the headlight backing cover down onto the undertray! Doh!

Did the second of my rocker covers this March with an intermediate oil change, its still dribbling oil, but nothing like what it was before when it was occasionally dripping onto the exhaust and stinking!

It wasnt too bad a job tbh. Am going to do the oil, filter and fuel filter this saturday plus all 8 front arms, top bushes and new front shocks. Managed to get 12l of Shell Helix Ultra for £60 delivered. Result. :)
