Right chaps, the time has come. I need to find a suitable solution to add Bluetooth to my S4.
It's an '04 with RNS-E and Bose.
I'd also really like to add iPod control. So, the Parrot MKi9200 looks like it ticks all the boxes. Is there a better solution than this?

I had one fitted to my last car, B7 A4 special edition with Bose. All phone functions were fine and nice to use. But a couple of things annoyed me about Ipod connection/sound. Firstly it needs an extra loom at £35 (Ok no big deal) for the Bose amp. Another niggle was I couldn't control fade with it like you can listening to a CD or radio. There are a couple of dip switches you can play with on the black box behind the dash but could never get it sounding how I wanted it.. It also went through 2 control pads and 2 screens, (just died for no reason) all changed under warranty but could've been expensive out of warranty.
They seem to get good reviews though so maybe I was just unlucky or bad install maybe!?
I still have it, just not got round to fitting it to the S4 yet..

You mean fade front to rear? Isn't that because it only plays through the front speakers?

It doesn't play in stereo.... You are better off buying the audi genuine Bluetooth unit and doing a retrofit on it... Then a separate iPod unit...
Or you could go for the fiscon unit which allows A2DP which means you can stream music from iphone/iPod over Bluetooth...
http://www.fiscon-mobile.eu/products/rns_e.php
Similar price to the audi unit and does everything the same, so displays in the dis and you can use multifunction steering wheel and control it all through the rnse....

It plays through the rears as well but you can hardly hear it. The dip switches control balance and fade but it's not great..
I'll probably put it back in the S4 for the phone but will definitely be looking for something else for the ipod. I'll look into the Audi unit, thanks MaLice.

The ideal settup would be
Mrk2 rnse
Audi ami in glove box for the iPod (you can control the iPod or iphone through the rnse properly with track listings etc)
Audi Bluetooth unit
However if you don't fancy spending a huge amount, the rnse mrk1 with the fiscon unit will allow you to use Bluetooth and control iphone through the unit and it integrates to the unit just like the audi unit does....

Mki9200 works great with both runs-d and runs-e
You just need to find an installer that knows what they are doing and which loom to use so that you go in in pre Bose amps - then it sounds great and you still get stereo and all audio control.
There is a thread in the rs4 section on this
