It is a inspect and change, rather than a service item.

They tend to have cracks appear in rib of the belt. Belts are only £15 for a genuine one.

Changed mine on my old S4, as part of a service at 55,000 miles. Don`t remember that is was too bad to do.

Officially, it is supposed to happen around 120000Kms.
From my experience, it is a good idea to plan it for the service before (90000Kms)

The belt itself and accessories cost nothing. As usual it is the labour the issue (at least on a B6). You cannot access it, neither from the top nor from the bottom.
As far as I know, the only option is to remove the front. There are various ways to do that but I don't know any which is easy.

If you have an easier way to do that change, I am interested.
I did it already once as I described and I would be more than happy not to have to do it a second time.

It is a fairly easy job, bumper off, under tray off. Use the service pins to move the front out to get to the belt.

No more than 1 hr inc tea breaks.

Just to be sure to understand:
Once you removed the bumper and the tray off you still have the radiator on the way.
Do you also remove it or you just use the space underneath to try to reach the belt and release the roller ?

You remove the bumper, then the bumper mounting dampers 6x torx, 4x torx top carrier bolts, 2x torx bolts under the indicators and pull the front lock/radiator carrier out, on the service pins.

The service pins move and supports the whole front lock/radiator carrier out by 5".

I have sets of the genuine VW Audi service pins in stock.

Sounds similar to what we had to do except that we did not have service pins and it took a bit more than one hour (without the tea breaks  )
You are for sure better than us.

Can I just ask if the accessory belt is called the accessory belt? I just spoke to my local dealer's workshop who had no idea about it... Wondered if there was something name that could ring a bell for them...

If I remember well there is just one belt on that engine so it is hard to miss it
