As regards the noise, if only they had made it sound as good inside the cabin as it does with the bonnet up but I'm sure the Milteks will do the trick
Could be quicker, yes

Exactly my thoughts on the new S4

But I still like it . When the whole package is considered it fits my needs pretty well.

Fine, but I have the B5 S4 which feels quicker IMO when remapped.
Can't beat the handling of the new S4 though in comparison.

I may well have gone for a modded B5 given the choice but the car is bought on company money and certain rules apply i.e. must be a new car.

I get your drift about feeling quicker. It's always a dilemma - do you go for the car (normally turbocharged) that gives you that stuck to the seat feeling or the car that beat its rivals round the track in a published test. Discuss...

My discussion is based on the amount of miles you cover on a track versus the number of miles on the road

James

I totally agree but the when the S4 has the Stage III AmD conversion it really gives the car the voice and character it needs over std.

I'm going to have this package fitted in the next month or two and can't wait

I been unable to drive for 6 weeks ( bad back ) .. It's one thing having to wait for a car, but to have the car for a few weeks ( 2500 miles ) and then not be able to drive it ( parked outside ) is well .. Not Good

Any way .. hopefully on the mend now .. and would like to agree with all above, especially the high clutch and long gearbox issue ..

Is there anything that can be done .. my clutch has a problem where is does not always disengage everytime and the gearbox sometimes cruches like a crash box

Still a great car

hehe...never say never

But I doubt it..unless the RS6's come into what I would consider a decent level...

Which is a very valid point but I also meant that just because you get a load of torque at a certain number of revs, you may not be quicker head to head. This is rather philosophical, however, as I quite agree that a modded B5 S4 is quicker.

It'll be interesting to see how the new RS4 compares with the old, particularly if the 'no turbo' intelligence is true. Loads of horses but a normally aspirated torque curve - hmmm.

Yes, get it booked in before the gearbox gives up completely and your back ceases to be the only reason you can't drive it!!

Hopefully the new gearbox will arrive before it packs up completely.
