When does the B7 S4 get the 60:40 torque split?

Post by Merlot » Mon May 09, 2005 10:51 am

Interestingly, the RS4 article in Autocar said that the S4 will also get the 40% front, 60% rear torque split. Anyone know when or was it standard on B7 S4 from launch?

I've just been reading a thread over on Audi World. If it to be beilved then the B7 has it

"In everyday driving conditions you would most likely not see a difference, only under aggressive or at the extreme limits would you notice a difference IMHO.

Don't forget where as the B6 starts at a normally set 50/50 setting in normal driving conditions, it will still transfer up to ~ 66% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed and vice versa. Now the new B7 TorSen diff starts at a rear setting of 60% under normal driving conditions but will send up to 85% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed. This is where the B7's TorSen will make a difference under "power on situations".

You would think that Audi would make more of it if it was on B7 S4's. It would be nice to have some proof from Audi...just don't try Audi Customer Services as they'll give you any answer to get rid of you.
