B7 in the flesh
B7 in the flesh
Was at an Audi dealer's late Saturday having a quick nosey, and must admit, after all my negative comments previously, the new B7 does look great in the flesh, certainly a lot newer looking. There were no S4's there (when's the B7 due?), but plenty of Sportline variants which share the same front end (which actually is a bit of a deterrent for purchasing a B7 S4 I would have thought).
Dudes,
Wanna have pictures of my B7? (Black Avant, Red recaro,...)
mark@2-mega.com
My wife drives an S-line 2004 and both cars are standing (and sleeping) next to eachother in the same garage.
It's really hard to choose between both fronts because i stil like the B6 al lot but...
The B7 nose is more agressive and what a nice tail the B7 has now! 4 tailpipes in combination with the new taillights is really succesfull...
S4 regards! Mark

Good somebody else has noticed that Audis no longer have excellent interiors. Which is why the RS4 is NOT going to attract a lot of brand stalwarts. Still they will still bucket loads across the pond and to 'aspiring noobs'FrankC wrote:Had a good look around the B7 S4 outside the local dealers yesterday.
The car looks much better in real life....although i have to say the quality of the materials for the interior look like they have been downgraded slightly, from the previous car

Myself and Brooner drove the B7's at Silverstone on Monday at the Audi Driving Experience. I didn't think the interiors were any worse than the B6, the only real substandard bit was the aluminium look trim which was pretty nasty when you tapped it. This was something I remembered from the B6 also.
The new nose has grown on me and the quad pipes are pretty cool I guess. Recaros are also more supportive than my RS4 ones and the car was pretty good dynamically. I found it pretty easy to catch the back end when it snapped out with a bit of a dab of the throttle and would have enjoyed a good bit of arse out action if the instructor would have let me
Cheers

Anyone in SW london who wants a look at one - a sales director has a black S4 B7 Avant at Dovercourt. Looks nice indeed.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Downgrading the interiors in the BMWs doesn't seem to have harmed their sales. There again most of their customers would buy a skip if it had a BMW badge on it!Nordschleife wrote:Good somebody else has noticed that Audis no longer have excellent interiors. Isn't quad tailpipes a bit tame now? Should have at least six and also a complementary baseball cap in the glovebox.

Re interior - I'm pretty sure the interior is exactly the same as the B6, bar the steering wheel. The leather Recaros on the B6 have definitely retained that "matt" look a lot longer than those on my previous B5, so nothing to complain about there, but the carpet is no where near as good a weave as on the B5. Plastics, well, seem ok; plastic is plastic I guess!
000S4 - pics look great. However, I passed a black B7 sportline parked facing me on the same side of the road the other night, and if I wasn't such a trainspotter, would have quite easily missed it; didn't look particularly special/aggressive/eye catching (but maybe that's the point?)
Not enough of a sea change (particularly with Audi's refusal to update the Avus wheels) for me to be tempted with the change to B7. Interestingly, note how few on this forum have one.....(or if there are they're being very covert

I have too agree with Frank i drove one at the Audi driving experiance on monday and the is noticeable drop in quality on the interior from the B5 to the B7 the plastics and the inlay was a bit rattley, But it dose look quite nice on the out side, and has a nice sound track from the V8, and not to sluggish of the mark but never got above 70 mph on the day so can't really say how it is mid range but had a great day with BJacks sliding the casr in the wet what a hoot
thewre was 2 tdi s-lines and the body kit was identical to the S4
i don't think i would be too happy if i ahd a B7 S4 but then again make it more stealthy
