Thinking of a change

Post by Daz » Tue Nov 02, 2004 10:46 am

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about changing the car again and went for a test drive in an S4 Avant at the weekend. I've been reading the comments on here and am aware of the MPG figures - won't be much worse than the allroad.

What is there I should look out for?
Should I go for Manual or Tip? Any tuning implications? I drove the manual on Saturday and am trying a tiptronic this afternoon.

Does anyone know any differences - apart from looks - between the current B6 and the new B7? Is it a good time to buy a B6 or should I wait for the B7?

Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers,
Daz :D

I have had a S4 Avant Tip since Mar and really pleased with it. Drove manual and thought it did not quite suit the car and was a little too much like hard work. The paddles offer quite good fun and the sport mode is v good.
I do not nail it too much but in essence it does what it says on the tin -quick, quite unoticeable whilst it does it and good fun.

well i have just chopped my s4 avant with exhaust and cats(hopefully exhaust  sold through forum) in for a new b7 3.0 tdi(coming jan). i know the smokers aren't to everyones taste but once chipped it should be good for 285bhp as its the same engine as a6/a8 so with hoooge amounts of torque and about 35mpg isn't that worth thinking about- better than the 17mpg i got on average!
