B6 brake fade ??

Well after a bit of ruff n tumble with a chav in a 106 rallye ( I will tell myself it was turbo'd) I discovered to my distain that these standard brakes dont like getting hot and whipping between roundabouts turned into bit of a 'mare. Now I know I could fit porker brakes but I aint that well off and I am looking more to replace the disks and pads with something 'better'. I was previously into my cossies and know companies that will do bigger disks and brackets to space the calipers for them but is their something similar for the S4's ?.

Any help appreciated ( and yes the pug was stripped out and dropped on the floor with the chavtastic exhaust hangin out the back like a huge shiny bollock ) so it wasn't standard by any means ( I had forgotten how quick them little tinworms go ) but it was a bit embarrassin all the same

The standard brakes are actually good. Your brake fade was probably more down to the fluid than discs and pads. Changing to DOT5 will up the ante instantly. Disks and pads? You can try DS2500 and/or Yellow Stuff pads. EBC offer a range of discs.

I recently needed to replace all my discs (still on originals, with approx 70K miles). I decided to upgrade as i was going to have to "spend a few quid" regardless. I went with Pagid discs and pads all round, HEL braided hoses & DOT5. Total spend (inc delivery & fitting) was <£1k.
The Pagids were cheaper than both EBC & OE from my local Audi dealership, and there is an overall noticable performance improvement - both in braking itself, and in fade reduction.

Sounds more like my kind of thinking, I must admit up to that point the brakes were fine but I hadnt been standin on them as much. Time to go shopping me thinks

I run MTec fronts with EBC yellows, and get no fade (even on track).. just a shame they dont do rears to match

depends how exactly the brakes "faded".

If the pedal feels fine in terms of pressure but the car isn't stopping as it used to then likely to be the pads overheating.
If the pedal is getting longer and spongy then check the fluid.

Doesn't help that both can happen at the same time.

Now days very few modern vented discs are overwhelmed before the fluid and pads... sure it can happen but I'd check the others first.

I fancy the Cayenne, Q7, Toureg 6 pots when I need to change discs and pads, then I'll get the 2 piece rotors as well. Much lighter per side and should come in less than a grand also.

Round the track I'm standard except for the RBF fluid and the Ferodo DS2500's - was fine all day long around Bedford. Tyres are a bit of a state though!

Hi thanks for the input, the brakes simply faded, no spongeyness just no braking !!, the disks have a slight lip to them so I am going to change the disks /pads and fluids and see what happens
