Hi all,
I've decided that the longlife service plan is rubbish so just coming up to a year its time to service!
I have a 2003 S4 avant 90k miles, cat back Miltek and BMC panel filter.
I'm an aircraft mechanic so I can swing a spanner and am fairly confident I have all the kit to do the job!
From what I've read the OEM oil filter is more than up to the job so I'm going to stick with this, anyone have any other recommendations?
I have 8 NGK Iridium plugs part no. BKR6EIX, I bought them online from a site telling me they were good, but I've seen differend numbers come up on other sites? Anyone?
I have 20l of Gulf competition courtesy of Opie, From what they say it's a good esther based oil so I'm good for the next couple of changes! anyone used this oil?
I'm going to replace the BMC filter as I don't know how old it is, or can they just be blown through with compressed air?
Do I need the do the fuel filter? if yes anyone know where it is?!
I'll change the pollen filter too with OEM,
I think that's everything! Has anyone any recommendations, they'd be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Wardy

Re: Service time
For oil filter i went for the mahle one from opie while i was buying OEM filter for mk4 r32 and 2o litres of gulf competition oil for both the rs4 & r32. Very good oil and i will be using it from now on im my 650bhp rs4.
ngk should be fine. This is the part number i found BKR6EQUA. Link - http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_comm ... engine=4.2
I would just give the filter a good clean and reuse. I done this with my ITG filter and it seemed to be fine.
I would have thought that the fuel filter would have been changed before now, it is worth checking its condition and making a judgement call based on its current condition. Not sure on where it is but it might be fairly close to the fuel tank.

Re: Service time
Hi,
You have to wash the BMC filter with some form of detergent kit and re-oil it.
Something like this :

The fuel filter is a lifetime component and doesn't have a replacement schedule. It won't harm to change it, though.
It's situated on the drivers side, by the front of the rear wheel arch, next to the tank. You have to remove a plastic cover to get at it, but you can see one end of it without removing the cover.
I was going to replace my fuel filter, but the screw head had corroded away, so I left it for another day.
BTW, anyone know how to get the fuel lines off the filter - you're supposed to just press either side of the fitting, I think?

Re: Service time
Thanks for the info gents!
Hektor, that link you gave me is perfect! http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_comm ... engine=4.2 click on the part number it gives and the number I have is shown as an upgrade!
Nihc, I'm going to order that cleaning kit tonight, and the rest of the parts I need, I think I'll do the fuel filter too, I'll maybe take some photo's and do a little write up as I go!
time to get the credit card out!
