Milltek - photos from underneath

Post by coullstar » Mon May 09, 2011 8:17 pm

I finally got my Milltek through the door this weekend but didnt get a chance to look at it till tonight. I think they have screwed up as the brackets as the mid pipes seem to have the hanger going the same way. Also the tips dont seem to fit onto the silencer sections, are the supposed to fit straight on?

Ive also got a couple of short sections that dont seem to fit in anywhere.

Anyone have a photo of a car with this system fitted or done it themselves that could help me. I'll be mega pissed off if it is wrong as thats almost a month Ive been waiting for this.

Ok, found some photos and it looks correct for the hangers. Still not sure on the two little spacers though.

The spacers are actually adapters to fit the Milltek to the OE downpipes I believe

as I recall when I had mine fitted at MRC, the spacers are there so you can determine how far the rear tips pop out of the valance, some like them protruding more, some less, and I think the spacers allow you to do that, although I may be wrong?

Well I decided to fit it tonight. Pretty easy to be honest and I managed it with just a couple of ramps. Only tricky bits were getting the original front clamps of at the CATs but if you have a grinder it will take a minute. Also getting the middle hangers off is a bit of a fiddle. Standard system weighs a ton!!

The Milltek went together very easily apart from the tailpipes. They didnt want to fit on the silencer box but a little file here and there it worked. All in it took me 3-4 hours including 30min to saw off the front clamps. Anyone with a little mechanical knowledge would easily be able to fit this themselves.

Oh and the little spacers adaptors that fit between the cats and the system.

Well done - when i watched AMD put the tips on they used a heat gun to heat the tips up so they went on easy then tightend up onto the pipes.
