Possible???

Post by Stalex » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:10 am

Hi,

I drive B6 S4 Auto and occasionally like to flip it over to manual mode. However, pushing away (forward) the gear lever to change up a gear feels completely alien to me. I don't like the flappy paddles too much either.

I previously had a (sorry for swearing!!) BMW 540i tiptronic and I believe you could change the orientation of the gear changes with a simple wiring correction i.e. pulling on the gear lever to change up and pushing to changed down.

Just wondered if it were possible on the B6.

Thanks

It would depend on how the switch/paddle itself works. May be worth taking the cowling off and see what's what. You may be able to make some short cables to test it out through the block connector if it has one? It it's linked into a big module that controls several things it'll be alot harder if possible at all.

Pushing forwards to change up is just wrong
