Coolant Temperature Sensor Location

Post by cobraBLACK » Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:33 pm

Anyone have a photo?

I think it's top-rear of the engine but I can't see it.

I have a replacement one with a green connector casing but I don't think the old one has the same.

I don't have a picture of it but it is top rear of the engine slightly to the left looking from the front of the engine. You will feel it more that being able to see it. To do it you will need to lie over the engine and shift most of the wires and plastics out of the way. And twist your hands 360 degrees.
When I did mine it was a bitch to get at. I took more time because the rubber O ring was still in the hole and I thought it had come out, so when trying to fit the new clip it would not go back in. Then I realized the old O ring was still in. It was easier without that there.

Another thing was that the engine gets so hot and it took hours for it to cool down. I was in a rush to get it done so just suffered the heat from the coolant after about 3 hours of waiting for it to cool. Best to do it when engine is cold. Just drain out the coolant to around the level of the sensor to save wasting coolant.
Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember that the green was an upgrade sensor over the old one. Mine was different to what was taken out.
