Tailgate Sticking

Hi,

My tailgate keeps on getting stuck shut and will not open easily. Then I have to drive with the PID telling me that the boot is open. It seems to happen fairly randomly and will open at times and then refuse to open at other times....i did look stupid on saturday piling all my shopping onto the rear seats it a tight carpark!!

Anyone had this before?

I had it, yeah. Sounds pretty much exactly the same as my symptoms were. Turned out to be a faulty solenoid in the boot release mechanism.

Had it also. Boot switch in th tailgate most probably. When you are in there changing it, have a look around for signs of water ingress, its not uncommon for the Wiper motor seal to leak where the washer hose passes through it, and leak water into the taigate from your rear window washer. This in turn plays havoc with the tailgate electrics and could be the reason for your tailgate actuator failing, or being lazy.
