Its Here and I like It

Post by paulslacey » Mon Dec 22, 2003 5:53 pm

My tongue is still hanging out after the Porsche this seems a much quicker car, the Tiptronic box is superb and I do not think I could change gear as fast as it can nor as smoothly.

Sport mode on the auto hangs on until the last moments to change and the sound from the twin pipes is superb.

Made the wait all the more worth while great build quality and so sublte, unlike the M3 drug dealers car.

Well done Audi!!!!!!

More stories of ownership/reviews awaited with anticipation, particularly after a couple of thousand miles. May I recommend a trip to Scotland this weekend.

Sure, a few by now. Have had it about a week and covered about 1,000 miles over the Christmas period.

Loves;

V8 woofle
Ride
Steering on the move (at low speeds...mmm too light IMO)
Build quality all around is suberb
Q car status
Practical avant format
Great seats
BOSE/Symphony
MPG (with the cruise on for a long trip )

Dislikes (or could do better)

MPG-when looning it...single figures are a little scary
Not loud enough
Needs more poke than std IMHO
Gearchange a little long winded maybe

So really all my dislikes can be addressed with a visit to AmD for the Stage III set up and the gearchange short shift

Can AMD do a short shift gear link for the new S4 V8?

I know they can for the bi-turbo but I am not sure they do it for the new S4

Thanks Gareth,

Overall I think I'm with you on your likes and dislikes.

The MPG is scary but I know you went in with your eyes open so at least it's not a surprise. I would advise not watching the current MPG when your foot is feeling irresistably heavy but switching on the average MPG on long motorway trips - it makes it seem much more bearable somehow .

As regards the noise, if only they had made it sound as good inside the cabin as it does with the bonnet up but I'm sure the Milteks will do the trick without making it too 'Max Power'.

Could be quicker, yes - for me, the dilemma is whether to get the current car modded or wait and see what is truly in store for the RS4. In both cases, I have a few pence to save before being forced to reach a decision.

And the gearchange doesn't bother me half as much as the high clutch, but then I don't do any F1.

If you do go for the mods, I'd be very interested to hear your story.

Cheers
