I had the same thing happen on Sunday evening, suddenly running rough and the engine light on.

I needed the car running today so I went to a local independent.Had one coil pack replaced.

I found the link below so now am reasonably confident of replacing the other coil packs.

My question is do the coil packs from EuroCarParts definitely fit a 2005 S4 engine as it only says until 2004. Also the part number on the replaced
pack is different from that on the advert.

The coil packs are the same for 2004 and 2005.

If you search on EuroCarParts for S4 4.2 and try different searches for 2004, 2005, 2006, etc, the part number is always 413440540.

Bear in mind this is a EuroCarParts part number, not an Audi part number, hence maybe why you have a different number for your replacement.
