Bakes question

Post by Greengoblin » Thu Mar 05, 2009 2:35 pm

Just been out for a short spin in my car, and worryingly I'm getting some judder from the front end under heavy braking.

I suspect it may be warped discs, if this turns out to be the case, are aftermarket jobbies up to scratch for this car or do I go for OEM?

Of course if anyone knows of an upgrade (within reason :) )to be done at this time feel free to chip in.

There are after market and OEM BBK available but these I wo0uld say is not within reason. I recently bought a pair of cross drilled discs and SS pipes from ECS in the states on business. Pads wise I fitted Ferodo DS. Cost around 450 in total. I am not sure if there any aftermarket discs available in the UK. (well I had problems sourcing any thing other that plain discs) SS pipes can be bought easily. The OEM discs etc are good. I needed new discs so decided to give this set up a go.

I've never had problems with the discs on this car, they are pretty good as Bling said, are you sure it's not wheel balancing? Have the tyres been on for a while?

The problem is that the car sits for long periods of time with no use due to my work, so when I do start to drive it again there is always a noticable part of the disc thats been "marked" by the pads, but it usually goes after a day or so.

This time however it isn't fading and there is only a judder on braking, I would have thought I'd have felt a balancing issue at other times.
