B6 Remap

Post by ShaneyB » Mon Dec 15, 2008 5:38 pm

Hi All,
Has anyone had their B6 remapped by MRC? If so how much difference has it made? Is it worth the money?

I've not had it done but i'm sure someone has posted on here that they have. When i had my car service'd at mrc lucas said it would be better to have the exhaust and remap done together to get maximum benifit.
Sorry i can't add anymore than that.

When you get it done be sure to post your finding's. Would love to hear the sound difference and and feel the difference.
Not sure if anyone over on audisrs.com have had theirs done. Might be worth asking!

Had this conversation last week with Jim from Star Performance in KLirkcaldy. Needs the exhaust, panel filter done at the same time to make a real difference. Give him a phone and he will give you the "tuners" perspective.

S4 with 2.5" custom exhaust with downpipes running REVO stage2 software

No centre resonator fitted and is running 100 cell metal race cats with no precats in the custom downpipes.

Mine has 2.5" 100 cell customs exhaust, excl downpipes and a remap by JD Engineering. The throttle response is better, rev limiter increased as well as the removal of the speed limiter. The valve timing has been changed with the 2nd kick coming at approx. 5500rpm. If anything a tad to later for my liking. Gains are not smack in the face noticeable but the car drives better than before and is louder.

Never heard of that before, please explain how this works. Are you sure its not just the turbo gases escaping faster/turbo spool up?

Do the downpipes as well as there is a lot of restriction there. Without the centre resonators at 30mph in third there would be a very slight drone but going into 4th go rid of it, when the resonators were put in no drone at any speed but with this being a cabriolet you could feel the exhaust rather than hear it!!!
Totally agree that the throttle response is much improved, this cabriolet now gives a standard RS4 (B5) a good run for its money so a lighter saloon or avant would be better still.

Dave, that would be very hard to do in this application.

Oh yeah, its non turbo

So you can change the timing to give a 'kick' at x rpm? Thats cool.

Hey Shane, long time no speak!

Yes, for now the remap will still be done on the road, but it might change at some point in the not so distant future ;)

Cheers,

Mihnea
