How do I change the front parking light?

Post by dsearle » Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:14 am

My S4 (04) is telling me that my front right parking light has gone however trying to get to this bulb is proving to be slightly problematic. The manual is suggesting I take it to the Audi garage but this seems a little extreme don't you think?

Has anybody replaced theirs? Any tips?

Cheers,

Dave

Utter pap. Both side light bulbs can be replaced without being reamed by the stealers. nimble fingers is all that is needed. As well as new bulbs....! I moved the air box out of the way to replace the drivers side. Nearside required a bit more patience.

I agree with bling bling. I changed mine for the LED type last year and you just need to chill out and take your time. Don't let the stealers have your money.

IIRC the easiest way for the nearside is to remove the 3 fixing bolts and pull out the headlamp unit.

@Chunky: Where did you get your LED's from and did you get and warnings on the DIS?

I got them from Ultraleds.co.uk. You need the Hw6 with heat shield to protect them form the heat. I do sometimes get bulb failure on the dash, but this is when it's cold and the lights still come on. The warning goes of the dash after about 2 seconds when the lights have warmed up.

They make a massive difference to the look of the car on a night.
One of the guy's in the B5 forum changed most of his lights on the car to led, ie - Number plate lights and all internal bulbs. Might have to get round to doing this if i still have a job next year.

Hi

Sorry to snipe in, but do you know which side light bulbs I need to match the xenons on my S3, as the current ones look 'creamy' in comparison :(

If you take your bulb out of the s3 dave the model of bulb should be stamped on it. I think it should match up with one on the site. I'll be honest, i'm not sure cause someone from the B5 forum told me what i needed. Just make sure that whatever you get it has the heat shield on it.
