Indeed there are some fantastic roads up near me! Can't wait to give it a good blast up the Woodhead and Snake Pass, two of my favourite roads infact nearly all the roads going out of Glossop area (if anyone knows it)
Just moved to Alderley Edge so I am on the look out for some good ones but a diesel clio just doesn't cut it when looking for fun roads!

I will be at meets aswell if people let me know! Thanks!

Snake Pass is great, but also v. dangerous because of the tw@ts who overtake on the blind bends (mostly Vauxhalls & Fords).

I love a blast over there, but I always have to temper it with the reminder of what I've seen on my side of the road, and what would happen if I were doing *cough* 90+ *cough* and met one of these idjits.

Don't like Woodhead - to many trucks

And it'll be very interesting to hear what the day to day experience is like compared to the B5.

Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy the car as much as I am. With 6500 miles on the clock, it should be nicely loosened up.

Well I/ve had her for nearly two weeks now. Seems generally faster than the old V6. went to Holland on business for a week, (in the Car!), needed an excuse to go... Late for the Tunnel on the way home with a colleague and decided to see what the top speed was. I have a Road Angel with GPS speedo, managed a GPS 164 MPH, car's speedo was off the dial, revs just under 7,000. Didn't do it for too long as too many trucks and 100+ closing speed is unexpected. Still pulling so might have gone quicker, what's happened to the limiter! Anyone else got a top speed measurement yet?

Silver with black interior but not happy, suffers from porpoising. Have test driven two RS4s but I would loose too much money, offered 32K by one Audi dealer 3000 miles! So come on you experts I understand there is not A lot of difference in weight between 2.7 and 4.2 can I fit Konis designed for damping front of turbo to V8

That's interesting, tell us more...
My B6 A4 cabriolet had awful spring/damper settings - possibly the least confidence-inspiring car I've ever had in that respect. It never settled to absorbing bumps, just pogoed around in an underdamped fashion.
I'd assumed the S4 was much better than the cab (which is, after all, only meant to be driven fast when you're late for a hair appointment); others on here seem to rate the handling of the B6 S4.

Hope you get it sorted (or a good deal on an RS4...)

Cheers, Richard.

To Richard:S4 V8 front road springs are very stiff giving the impression of a firm ride but the dampers are, I think, single action so you get vicious rebound.
I met it before on my old S6 (manual box)the ride was the same forcing me to do something about it when the rebound confused the ABS when it unweighted the front wheels leaving me without brakes for heart stopping moments. The solution was provided by new double action dampers, curtesy of Bilstein, fitted though the top of the wheel arch, in about 40 mins (so much for design progress).
The New S4 hasn`t been out long enough for Bilstein to have made alternatives, I`m still waiting for Konis reply.
On the test drive before agreeing to buy I asked the salesman if the dampers were single or double action he didn`t know what I was talking about.
Next I`m going to find out if other Bilstein dampers would be OK to fit ie. RS4s or 2.7 S4s they can`t be any worse than the ones Dirk Spohr (page 5 of the S4 glossy brochure)seems to think are up to the job.
