Is your car on the Insurance database?

Post by tweek » Sat May 24, 2008 7:33 pm

Hi All,

Was listening to a radio 4 programme (sad I know) and basically the police if/when they pull you over they can check your insurance status from the Motor Insurance Database, if your details are not there they can legally take your car and ultimately squash it.

You can check if your vehicle is listed on this database for free at tyhe following link to make sure your insurance company has updated the database. Suggest that people check...

Not the end of the World if you're not listed, might want to inform your insurance company though.
When the police do a PNC check it will either show the insurance details or it will show 'insurance details not held'. This either means that the insurers have not passed the info over or it is not insured. As it could be either scenario it is not enough for a seizure. The driver has to admit no insurance or it must be proven.
