Whine on Start up ...!

Hi,

I have an 04 tiptronic saloon that’s developed an annoying 'whine' on start up which then goes after a few minutes.

I read a post from last year which suggests it could relate to a ribbed belt tensioner issue.....If this is the problem should my Audi warranty cover it ? I've looked through the warranty info and it says un-encased drive belts aren't covered, would this be classed as un-encased ? Apologies I'm not very technical !

Yes mine does this now too, it's different from the whine described in the other post (and in the video from the guy in the US) in that it's not just at around 1100 rpm.

Thoughts at the moment are that it could be the secondary air pump bearings. I'm having mine looked at next service - will let you know the outcome.
