Knock from NSF wheel

Post by Vorsprung_Durch_Technik » Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:25 pm

Hi guys. Just registered as a new user, been on Audi-Sport. net and found glowing references for this place :D

I have a little problem with my 2003 S4, it has a knock from the NSF wheel which it only does on full lock, and when going very slowly forwards and backwards. I am mechanically minded although not a mechanic, and have had the car up in the air. there seems to be no meovement in any of the bushes, although i know the car will behave differently when the weight is on the wheels.

I heard that it could be the Anti Roll bar links and was investigating this further, but again, no movement when jacked up.

I found and RS6 owner who had an identical problem, involving exactly the same symtoms and suggestions were towards the Track Rod End?? But no confirmation of this.

It only does it when going slowly and intermittently, sometimes it is worse than others
Has anyone else had this with theirs?

Many thanks
Stuart :D

Hi Stu

Do you mean this:

(not the scrubbing as mentioned in the first post but scroll down further)

There's numerous posts about this in the B7 RS4 section too - it sounds like it's an unsolveable issue with the B6 & 7

Thanks Pete, yeah thats exactly it. I must say from having a look around this site, some memberss seem to have a wealth of knowledge and experience. been knocking arould car forums for a while and only found one other that has this!!
:D

Was just looking at the posts on the chain tensioner too, seems I will havet to live with that too. It grates on my eardrums first thing in the morning though I have to say. Its true what they say though, the perfect car still hasnt been made. Lol.

Am I right in saying that if a TSB exists for an issue relating to a problem that your car has, even if the car is out of warranty, would it be fixed FOC?
