Howdy folks
I'm looking at buying a new S4 (test drove yesterday - loved it!), but once you add on options, you are looking at £40k plus...
Does anyone know if dealers are giving any sort of discounts on these/throwing in extras?
As regards finance, what sort of APRs and ballon amounts have people been quoted from Audi finance for lease purchase ot PCP?
Responses greatly appreciated.
New S4 - Dealer Discounts?
Re: New S4 - Dealer Discounts?
Did someone mention discounts from Audi dealers, highly unlikely in my opnion.
Welcome to RS246.com by the way.
It all depends on how much you want to save, importing is usually the cheapest method but is linked to the euro rate which is poor at the moment. something like 1.65 euro is great but its not been that high since ages!
I think best way might be just walk into a dealer and straight to a sales manager, tell him straight up, that you`ll buy today if you can do him a good deal! and see what they say!

Re: New S4 - Dealer Discounts?
The car is too ne to get _any_ discounts IMO.
I tried two places and both said they could sell their allocation without having to discount at all.
I couldn't get delivery dates earlier than 2004 for imports, and the savings weren't likely to be great either (the place I tried couldn't confirm prices as yet).
Unfortunately it looks like if you want one in the next couple of months you'll have to pay the price. Or buy an ex demo car of course
Cheers,
John.

Unless you really are strapped for cash I would advise against any finance deal for a car. The cheapest way to finance any car is with a secured loan (i.e. put it on your mortgage), with an unsecured loan as a close 2nd best.
The only car finance schemes I have seen that are any good are those provided by Ford, Vauxhall etc. for their cheap little cars. Those provided by Audi etc. will ALWAYS cost you more in the long run than by financing it yourself.

Re: New S4 - Dealer Discounts?
I was quoted for finance on a new S4 with options (approx 45k). My requirements were a 10k deposit, and £600 a month over 3 years. This gave a baloon at the end of around 17k (If I recall correctly - its written down but at home)
This was an apr of around 6.9% I think.
Basaically as long as the baloon is less than 50% of the value they will be fine (residual value obviously affected by miles & condition).
Give Jon the insurance man a mail, as he put me in touch with a guy who is giving far better figures (Jon mentioned he'd quoted down to 2.9% apr which is better than my mortgage !)
If you want bigger/smaller monthly repayments normally they will juggle the figures to suit.
If you go in with finance already approved in principle you stand a better chance of being able to deal, but as I said above, they ain't really interested in dealing at present.
HTH.
Cheers,
John.
