Same old same old ...

Post by pds » Tue May 27, 2003 4:58 pm

Your car was supposed to built last week and you eargerly call the dealer to see when it is arriving - Audi were running in front of schedule ..... until they ran out of a component... engines apparently ....doh! They will come back when they have more info .....

Dont you just hate it when that happens ....

Well a production line such as Audi's is SUPERBLY organised, so computerised allocation and ordering systems should take care of having enough stuff at any one time. Your suggestion is probably correct sadly, although it's often because someone pays somebody in a suit off, so they can jump the queue. I've heard about it going on a LOT at Porsche. If you pay them enough you can have a Carrera GT sat in the factory within a week - I've seen it done, a fat German called Klaus who lives in Stuttgart and drives a Cayenne Turbo all week, and a 996 Turbo at the weekend. Now he's got the Carrera GT for when he's bored! Some people...

Rock on

Apparently it is a shortage of engines but the line is moving again.... methinks this could run for a while until all the dealers and germans have theirs ...

I think the demo cars at the dealers were 1-2 weeks late in arriving, so you may not have been alone.

Now, if I could only get a test drive, my dealer would be virtually assured of an order
