Having had my S4 for 3 months i have noticed a slight noise whilst driving - its hard to discribe it - its like a very low sounding whumm whumm whumm, that is at a constant interval of about 1/2 second apart - its kinda hard to hear TBH but when i do hear it it bugs the hell out of me.
Just wonderning if this is normal (running gear sound etc) or should i get it checked out before my warranty runs out.
Have read about soft alloys and didnt know if this could be a cause with one of the wheels slightly out of shape

RE: Noise on S4
Well after going back and forth to the local Audi Garage (Tonbridge) finally got them to change the passenger side front wheel bearing (they kept saying it was standard road noise !!!!) all is good now as the noise has gone
Now the really sad part, was cleaning the car at the weekend when noticed a nasty scrap on the rear passenger wheel arch, asked the missus if she had hit something (big mistake
) nope she hadnt, on closer inspection the scrap has been touched up to make it less obvious - now i know it wasnt there when i bought the car so it has to be Audi that did it, any advise on how i go about speaking to them to get it sorted as im sure they are going to deny it.
Also anyone else used Tonbridge Audi and had a good experience ? i have yet to have one in 5 years of going there (wont bore you all with the fun i have had), and can anyone recommend an Audi dealer near Tonbridge ? (Maidstone ? )
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problems Spikey - probably best to speak to the service manager there and explain what has happened. You should be able to tell if the paint in reasonably fresh if it's been done recently as it will still be very slightly soft.
I've used maidstone audi for many years and had no problems with them at all. Same for Bexley Audi, but that may be a bit too far away for you
Hope it all goes well.

spikey - I've been using (Laura Dagger) @ Tonbridge Audi since buying the allroad in Sept of '03. TBH, we've been really happy with the service both on the sales side, and the service. Never had a problem, and they've always done exatly what is says on the tin.

RE: Noise on S4
I must just be unlucky with them then - the following is a list of my fun:
1) Bought Audi A4 1.8 TS (from friend) 3 1/2 years old, fault developed where it would not start once the engine was warm, had to leave it a few hours - Audi said it was a faulty coil in the ignition lock, after 3 new ignition locks audi finaly gave in to what i said i guessed it was (ECU fault).
2) Took A4 1.8 TS for service advised windscreen washer bottle was leaking and also noise coming from rear brakes. Quoted £300 for new washer bottle (got replaced else were for £70) but was charged for the screen washed by audi ! told noise from rear brakes was a wheel bearing - 4,000 miles later noise is really bad, took to local garage to have wheel bearing replaced only to be told baring was find but the pads had gone on the rear and were grinding metal on metal (new disks needed).
3) buy S4 - find steam coming from front grills - quoted £390 to have fixed if not under warranty, had to take back as they didnt have the part, then they find both side rads had holes in, 1 under waranty and the other damaged by stone, bill was £420 - they tried to charge me all the labor cost and anti freeze cost even though one rad had to be replaced under warranty.
4) Noise on S4 passanger wheel - took 3 visits to get them to finally change the wheel baring under warranty (even though they couldnt hear the noise, when everyone else who got in the car could) - then find the damahed rear wheel arch.
As you can see im not impressed with them.
Been told that they have been bought out by Inchape - so who knows it may improve.
