Hi - not sure if this is the right place to post this - please move if not.
Bought my 2003 S4 from a dealer (none Audi) on 21st January 2006, the following day i noticed a small amount of steam comming from the front vents, then again the following saturday (put a post up about it on here) also whilst showing the engine to mother in law she noticed the collant level was low - thought it was a bit strange and kept an eye on it and advised the dealer.
Have kept further eye on it and level has continued to drop - dealer said put in to Audi garage as it should be covered under warranty.
Car went in today and the steam is comming from the front right side radiator, Audi have said they cant tell if its a warranty job or not until they take it out, which they wont do until they have the new part - if not under warranty it will be £400
The question is in view that all i did was drive the car home (approx 50 miles) and then notcied the steam the next day would the dealer i bougth it from pick up the bill if its not a warranty job, and if he refused to pick up the bill what is my legal position.
Thanks in advance

RE: Question on liability on dealer
if not covered under audi warranty, then the supplying dealer needs to pick up the bill. the law states that goods sold, need to be fit for the purpose intended, as it was clearly faulty at the point of sale, he needs to rectify the situation. cars cannot be "sold as seen" by a dealer, they must be roadworthy and it sounds like yours was not. i'd let the supplying dealer know that you will be looking for him to pick up the bill, if audi say its not covered under warranty
Nogaro Blue S4 Avant thats now sold 3/3/07
