problem, misfire on cylinder #3

Post by joss2 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 6:21 pm

Help, wife driving the '99 S4 last week, and I get the call, "it sound funny"...

AA kindly lifted to Mechanic 50 miles away who tells me that coil pack and injectors look fine, he's moving on to do a cylinder leakage test, tells me it looks like the middle cylinder on Drivers side (offside #3)

Does this ring any bells with anyone, all suggestions welcome,

car has done 140k miles, MTM chipped, KO4 turbos, well minded.

by way of update,

injectors and coil for that cyilinder are fine,

compression is fine, nothing on cylinder leak test.

only faults coming up are EGT , one permanent, one stored.

any help appreciated, not many S4's about these parts.

Many thanks to Doug in MRC,

a real gentleman who took my call and suggested a faulty channel out on a power amp, we swopped power amps as recommended and the fault switched the other bank.

Great to get a result and Thanks again to MRC.
