Anyone fitted one to the s4 and if you did it yourself, how tricky is it?

Oh, and does it work?

Cheers

Try AUDIZINE, this is a very popular mod in the US. http://www.audizine.com/forum

I too have been looking into it and AWSOME GTI (UK) told me they would be getting a stock in. Not sure if they have yet.

I believe it does work, there was a short footage clip made comparing STD with the SNUB and UCC drivetrain stabiliser and the the snub was very impressive. Not sure on fitting but I have an article at home.

I can pass it on if you are interested.

You can get them from Jim at starperformance, can't remember the price but i guess shipping costs are minimal.

Hi Dave,

I have collated some of the good info supplied and posted in the AUDIZINE tech section. Follow the path http://www.jfoster.dsl.pipex.com/news4.htm
and choose snub mounts

Cheers! I've seen most of Don Pavliks stuff before from audiworld, he's very informative re S4 mods and stuff.

I'll probbably get a mount when I next have a free weekend to fit it

To be honest I might design something along the UCC or AWE route. I will keep you posted with how I get on but I won't be doing anything in a hurry..

there might be (or should I say, there is) when new and at idle....
it should pass after week or two.... when the rubber gets soft

Are we talking about the APR snub mount or drivetrain stabilizer here ??
Has anyone got any prices for the APR jobbie in the UK, as it is only $50 in the US, but APR Europe want £79 for the same. Is it my calculator or are we Brits being ripped off? Also worth noting that a lot of the US guys have opted for a polyurethane mount costing $12. Has anyone got any contact with Powerflex in the UK??

Thanks for that link, at 12.95 its definately worth a go, in fact, i rekon you can order the APR snub from US + packaging + tax and it would still be cheaper that UK. Rip off

still I would go this way:
if money is no issue: go for AWE's DTS
then: APR snub mount, as it's bigger, harder, and.... just better
then: greedspeed's snub mounts.... they are way better than stock ones

[edit] ohhhh...and remember
If you do one, then better to not do the other, vice versa. Why? The Laws of Thermodynamics. You install one of the stabilizers and what happens? There is energy built-up that must be released elsewhere. If you have an engine mount, then it's released throughout the drivetrain. If you have a DTS then it's released throughout the engine. All that energy build up needs to be released in another form of energy (movement).

So what happens if you have both the engine mount and DTS? Where does the energy get released? Use your imagination.

what it does? hmmm.... it makes shifting softer
