hello guys,
i have an B5 S4.
my problem seems to be that the driver side heated wing mirror seems to on permanently. firstly, can some one tell me how these are activated - is it with the heated rear window, the outside temperature, or???
second my passenger does not seem to work - is this connected? would there be a separate fuse, a damage heating element, broken wire...?
will Vag.com be able to see this problem
any help would be appreciated
thanks
dave

The heated mirrors come on when you switch the back window heater on...
I'm assuming the fuse would be the same for both the rear screen and the mirrors as they operate from the same switch, i could be wrong though?
I doubt Vag.com will show anything up regarding this?
Hope this helps.
Duane.

You could be right m8. I've never noticed to be honest, i just assumed they came on with the rear window. When we had all the snow, i switched the heated rear screen on and my mirrors started to clear aswell?

Think you will find that the mirrors have a built in thermostat therefore operate automatically depending on ambient temperature.
So if yours are on all the time the stat is buggered and if they don't work at all then the heating element is probably buggered.

When i said mine are on all the time i meant they always come on every morning. I do hear the occasional click which i guess is the stat kicking on or off. So if the mirror switch isnt straight ahead does that stop them heating up in the first place? Must investigate.
