Hi all, new member - Question regarding a remap to 300bhp

Post by ncfc-canary » Sun Sep 27, 2009 11:53 am

Hello everyone. New member here from Norfolk - the land of inbred farmers and 6-fingered mutants to the rest of the UK lol. I'm currently without an S4 atm as I'm still on the look out for one but hoping to become an owner asap.

Anyway, I'm sure this is a recurring question on these forums but I have tried to look for this info first before asking. Apologies if it is out there somewhere.

Basically my question is what needs changing/modifying on a B5 S4 before having the vehicle mapped to around 300bhp? I know an exhaust and filter change is usually recommended and I'm aware that the standard turbos aren't up to much on these vehicles, but is there anything else thats important for approx 300bhp (i.e clutch, flywheel, brakes, pumps, hoses)?

Alternatively I might just buy a standard car and leave it alone. Just weighing up options atm.

Thanks alot for any advice and hello once again *Waves 6-fingered hand*.

An MRC Re-map should see you to 310Bhp with nothing else. 320-330bhp with exhaust & Air filter. Add bigger intercoolers and your good for 340ish. Thats about it on the K03 turbos.

Oh right, I didn't realise you could increase power on K03's at all. I was always under the impression (based on what i've heard/read about) that K03 turbos were too weak for anything more than standard power. I guess thats put me right (although I'd probably still look to have K04's installed eventually anyway).

Thanks for the replys btw. If anyone has anything else to add I'll keep a check on this topic. Its all much appreciated. Cheers.

I went MRC remap and it got me up to 318bhp on a 110k miles car. Pulled like a horse with 4wd :-)

Don't need to change the air filter for a remap & exhaust upgrade.
