Finally going full stage 3, ran into a few issues

Alright, I finally compiled all the parts to K04 my car, and I'm having one issue after another with the fitment on the driver's side turbo... First is was the oil line, now I'm having issues with the coolant line on the drivers side turbo. The line sits in place just fine, but I can't install it because the casting on the housing of the turbo is larger so the head of the banjo bolt to install the line hits the casting of the turbo. Is this normal to work around and/or how have you guys done it? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. I see a few possible solutions to this, but none of them are ideal, I could obviously 'notch' the casting, but I'd rather not take integrity away from my new turbo, or I could reroute the line around the other side of the turbo, this is probably what I'm going to have to do unless you guys have the proper fix. :)

I don't get it...I must not have an oe part, it is a k04-025 for the driver side...I solved the coolant line, had to notch the mounting point on the hot side where it bolts to the exhaust manifold just slightly. Now it looks like the front side of the turbo is either hitting the exhaust manifold or the head...pretty sure it's the manifold though. Is the fitment normally that tight? I can make it work, but geez lol! The passenger side went up with no problem at all.

Where did you get the turbos from?

are the manifolds pre-facelift ?

Yes, the manifolds are prefacelift...please tell me you've seen problems like this on pf manifolds so I know I'm not alone on this one :)

you really need to fit face lift manifolds as they are less prone to cracking and the rs4 which the ko4 turbo fits uses the later manifold design

Gotcha...didn't realize manifolds should have been on my list. :( In short, you're saying that k04's aren't a straight bolt on for pre-facelift manifolds, but will they fit? I don't have the coin right now to fit a different set and the pass. side is already completely mounted.

you`d be much better off fitting the later manifold now, rather than pulling the engine again to fit the and replace the turbos aswell WHEN your early (should have been recalled :audibash: ) manifolds crack and send little bits of metal through your nice new ko4`s.post a wanted ad on here and on audisrs somone will have a secondhand set knocking about
